Hi all,

Just doing my bit for the community!

Popped up a simple site with contact form below that'll ping an e-mail to Rory Kelly at Nominet (policy exec) and the IPO office opposing both the .uk extension and .co.uk trademark.

Would be grateful if you could take the time to fill out submit your info.

Cheers!

Yes they are, the super moderator uses umbrella-consultancy.co.uk when someone is already on the umbrellaconsultancy.co.uk

I can't believe one guy chose that name, but someone decided to piggy back the first one is unreal.

Marketing Guru's  Still in the land of the blind the one eye'd man is king.

Back on to the thread, good site khalid and I'll stick a link on it from my site.

Cheers
GW

The Trademark thing is just a design though isn't it?

It isn't trademarking the text, so I doubt that you can stop it being trademarked. I might be wrong though.

See where it says "Mark text: .co.uk". Therein lies the rub.

It's down at the minute, I can't see how on earth they'd get away with possibly registering that as a TM word (rather than image) especially when there is one already from 2005 in the same classes.

Bizarre

From what I can see it is just "Stylised word", I think it refers to the design of the way they have presented the words.

I don't think it is to stop others using the .co.uk. Granted I don't know why they are doing it but I don't think it would stand in just words.

I agree with Greywing, I may be wrong, but I dont think they could trademark .co.uk, plus I dont see how they could possibly hold anyone to ransom for having .co.uk in their domain.

I could be misinterpreting things, but to me it looks like the design.

My employer is the same, we couldn't trademark the words but we could the text with logo.

However it doesn't stop Nominet trying it on with companies in future though and having a TM will strengthen it.

Could one obtain a "SW" mark as a stepping stone to a "WO" mark (down the line)?
