I rarely buy domains these days - Not because I wouldn't or don't have the funds - It's the investigative (seeking potential value) work that I can't be bothered with anymore.

Then tonight a "Future worthy" term (imho) kicked back in from the past - And there it was available in .com (and all its mothers and daughters available - which again somewhat surprised me).

First thought - I'd ignored it before so good-reason to ignore it again. So as you do "Google Search" AGAIN.(me thinks) - However, Says it dropped last month (May) in .com. First pages are nearly all about comments on Google of a possible drop. (So must have just stayed in my and others minds)

Thats it - I'm bitten again - done and dusted in .com and uk.

I'd be going into therapy - If I didn't enjoy it so much

If it's any consolation I am supposed to be in a "selling only phase" but I have cracked again recently. Also, I think now is quite a good time to be buying on the secondary market.

Rgds

I bet it's a random word preceded by 'cloud'.

...only joking Bailey ;)

;)

Hope you don't mind but, I wont put-up the actual domain/s (yep their was 4 of the bleeders) But suffice to say they're are in the area of growing concern of income and pensions.

I know I have mentioned it before but, for me the fun in domains has been in studying potential future markets. i think a lot of individuals working in the same scope make simple errors by trying to identify "Products". then use todays concepts/wording to describe the product. Far better (to my mind) to try and visualise the product/service etc in use and then try to be mindful of its 'uses' and 'benefits' in contriving domain descriptives.

It's almost impossible to mind share (in words) but " I'd imagine" looking at my interest in domains people would say "oh yeah but thats an obvious descriptive" Well my thoughts are 5,6,7,8 years ago it wasn't. The other advice I would give is don't get drawn-in by the technology or technical descriptives behind a product or service they very often have no bearing on how the product or service is marketed..

10-12 years ago I would say my interests where in the future of "touchscreens" "tracking devices" and the growth of "food" related internet sites. Which have all proved to be quite healthy but they certainly weren't at the time. and all required quite a bit of research into. (food being the only obvious one)

I try to avoid letting my thoughts getting back into this mode - it becomes all too consuming and before you know it your world becomes a stack of a thousand notes and those 3AM moments of conjecture. Now i just roll-over and go back to sleep. Oh the bliss of it :D

That sounds like how I write code.

I write code with many years of 'potential' modification space left, so I'll make loops behave strangely and generate some (currently) useless output because in 2-3 years I think, a potential mod will be needed.

On some bigger projects its worked out well, but one some upon revisiting for speed I've have to strip it all back heh.

Same kinda process tho really.

Domain wise, I'm kinda stuck in my Niches which I understand and do not have a finite future, almost any tech has a definite end date unless its very broad.

I would hate to get into this brandable idea of made up ones like Zoosk and such because I think up loads of them, or you could just register the sounds Borris Johnson makes ;)

I have that same problem - Why do something in 10 minutes, when you can dissect it down to an 'Ants Arse' level in 40 hours. Some polite souls call us "perfectionists"

I've had a small bite at this one a couple of times before. Brandables can be beautiful. And no they shouldn't be phlegm sounding - unless your selling to ducks. It does take, dare I say a .com mindset. (that's a neighbouring planet) to those locked into .co.uk I hope nobody minds but I am going to indulge myself in creating some TLD talk/comparisons here at Acorn

I love brandables :)

The 'domain bug' is a pest. I'm supposed to be getting out but can't bring myself to part with my portfolio. Still, I suppose I'll need something to do - maybe develop, which I haven't really done before. And I guess I'll still be buying. Just can't seem to resist.

I heard the Domain Bug is a highly evolved bed bug hybrid, which would explain why its so hard to kill.
