Well I don't know how I feel about this. It's a metric that has been part of my life for over a decade, useful as an at a glance indicator. And now it is no more, Google retired its feed for toolbar pagerank a couple of years ago but then 'accidentally' let slip an update to it, despite their assertions it was no longer going to be for the public. I have no doubt it continues to exist as the main part of their ranking algorithm in a more complex form but the loss of that little green bar for us plebs is now definite. DA, moz rank, ahref rank etc.... over to you even more than before. Despite all the Google propoganda suggesting their ranking formula includes factors such as site speed, quality of content, standard of writing, mobile responsiveness etc, they are all still minor factors compared with the humble backlink profile which PR used to give a dumb summary of. RIP PageRank!

Not looked at PR as a sole metric for years myself, haven't used it to judge sites or backlinks in particular since probably 2012..........maybe earlier. Normally stick to OSE DA and PA, ahrefs or Majestics Trust flow and Enterprise version of SEO powersuite to get a good judgement. PR made everyone lazy ( including me ), Although I used to be a pagerank whore myself and earnt a pretty penny from it, I think it was a good move to knock it on the head, I doubt many people will even realise its gone completely now.

You are absolutely right BUT some people are still buying it.

Absolutely, there are still some large company's which still use that as their "goto" metric of choice, this change might make them dive a bit deeper than just the top layer lol.

You're right it's no longer something 'external' but bet they still use it 'internally' lol. I've not looked/used it for years too.
