A few hours ago I received email from LookingGlass Cyber Solutions claiming to act on behalf of Barclays Bank, and requesting rapid takedown of a phishing website.

Quickly followed by the same urgent request from our UK based hosting provider. I guess Nominet will have also been contacted.

The site is question is an an innocent parking page at www.smartinvestor co.uk. However, it also includes sub domains, which are quite interesting in this case.

LookingGlass supplied a screenshot of www.barclays(dot)smartinvestor co.uk, as the basis for their concern.

Our hosting provider sent a second email to say that "this is just the standard contact form that you put on the holding page for all your domains. I've replied to LookingGlass accordingly."

As good practice I had already deleted the nameservers pending a resolution. It now seems acceptable to restore the contact page.

The domain was heading for bargain basement, but in light of this perhaps a financial institution would see value in it.
