Had an email with a £500 offer for a domain
Ideally I would have liked more but in uncertain times sure £500 is reasonable so I replied saying I think it's a fair offer and the steps to proceed
They then reply today "I don’t have £500 right now. Could you do £300?"
I replied "If I accept £300 does it then drop to £200 and further until I'm paying you to take it off my hands"
I've never accepted an offer before only for them to turn around and try and reduce it
Not particularly positive but it did make smile at the cheek

That sounds familiar. You could accept £300 and get no further response.
The last such "request" I ignored, and a week or so later they decided to go ahead with the price offered. Nothing lost by asking or waiting, and for buyer the possibility of a much better price.

He agreed to his initial offer but said would I hold it for two weeks, I said sure, whether they come back to me who knows
On the bright side I just completed a .uk sale today for £1000
I was expecting things to be slow sales wise but I've had a few offers lately so not all doom and gloom

The poor bloke is in a reverse bidding war with himself!
All joking aside though, I can see your annoyance. It's almost as if your own fairness was used against you! I mean if you'd said "Sorry, I can't accept £500, but will take £650", would he have still said "No I can't pay that, it's £300 or nothing" haha.

Another option would be offer it for £500 and take £250 upfront on non refundable deposit, and agreed date for second final payment. Agree to transfer on completion of final payment, but can use (DNS) until then etc.
If genuine would probably jump at it. Have done similar on a few names big and small before now.

Hi all, newbie here! I thought I would use this lockdown time to concentrate on my dropcatching project I've always wanted to do.
Finally got up and running over the weekend, became a Nominet member, finished writing my drop catching system "cylon", scanned the drop lists and started catching domains. Still learning the ropes, the hard part is evaluating what makes a good domain, it's easy to get carried away! It is very satisfying when you do catch one and see the domain in the Nominet web manager display. I'm addicted already!
Anyway, nice to meet you all!

Hah, I actually wrote it last year (too late for the .uk drops), but I never put it into production because I was busy with other things and didn't want to spend £500 on the membership at that point. The drop catching system took me about a week to write and I've been tuning it over the weekend. Time will tell whether it's any good!

I recently learned of "TheSunExchange" - it's a company where people can "invest" in solar cells and lease them to schools/hospitals/businesses in South Africa
For instance there's a project for Woodside Special Care Centre which is a specialised housing center that hosts long-term residents who have severe and profound intellectual and physical disabilities
For this particular project you buy each cell for £3.95 (there's 8,208 cells total available) and they pay you yearly lease in bitcoin and by the end of the 20 years you should expect about £12 total for each cell
But they don't pay you the same every year it increases by 2% anually, the first year they're only going to pay you about 40p in Bitcoin
Obviously it's not really an investment, more a charity than but just as an idea I really liked it
