Listen to me asking technical questions 9 months ago I didn't even know how to buy a domain name ;)

I am using this site as a test site for plugins, html etc, generally to see what I can break and how I can fix it.

inflatable tents

I have installed a simple pagination plugin and amended the index.php as instructed and it works but:

Normally a post will have a url of say inflatabletents.org.uk/vango-airbeam-2012-tent-range but when I click on a post using the pagination at bottom it gives me a string off inflatabletents.org.uk/page/2 which isn't very nice.

My question is can I change the latter string, changing permalinks doesn't make any difference and I don't seem to be able to do it in the plugin settings. I may be able to do it in the theme editor but not sure where?

Secondly from an SEO point of view does it matter if the string is like this and if I don't manage to change it so it followed the permanlink settings would this then become duplicate content as technically you would have two pages the same with different address or is it simply an internal link to a post?

Hope that makes sense and any advice welcome.

PS please don't appraise the site as it is simply for me to learn on, my next job is to have a go at changing the pictures in the header.

Thanks

Aiden

The reason it seems weird is because you have it set to one post per page. If you had, for example, five posts per page then the navigation would make more sense.

The 'page' is not the post, it is a collection of posts, on your site it is a collection of one.

A 'previous' and 'next' post may make more sense, maybe displaying the post title underneath, the way you are trying to do it doesn't really make any sense from a navigation point of view.

Great Boxfish thanks I will go and do that now to see what happens.

No that didn't work either?

I know without pagination plugin it says "older posts" and that's not so bad on a site with 3 posts but the one I actually want to put it on has about 30 posts. I want the url after the button has been clicked to reflect the url of the post not just page/2 etc..

I think it might be something to do with the loop.php?

Back in a bit when I have really broke it.

Just looked on other blogs and older posts and post pagination comes up with page/2 so it wasn't broke just me complicating matters. I am trying to learn by thinking things through but that is obviously dangerous for me!
