last year i built a really nice pc buying parts from ebuyer.com

i have never built a pc before, but managed it :)

depends if you have the time to build it.... or can be bothered :)

Here in Oz, laptops are as cheap as anything, I assume the same is in the UK. What's the point in buying a bulky PC when you can buy a mid spec HP laptop for the equivalent of £400.

I use dell... register with them and get monthly offers

for cheap laptops i would say HP are deff great.. got one 2 years ago and still running just fine (although i could do with a new one) :)

i have never used dell, but know a few people who did with mixed reviews.

i use HP laptop for business (+ custom built pc)

the reports i get are dell are ok for short term use (eg use for 1 year then chuck and get another one) having never used them myself i cant back this up.

tbh i think pcs are getting good enough now that most are ok.

I would warn against just buying a £450 cheap laptop from Dixons, someone i know did this and their laptop is slower than my 3 year old HP laptop ;)

If you don't mind building your own (takes about an hour) then spec it out and Google UK (or eBay) for the bits. Cheapest way to EVER build a PC to order.
