Recommend a good educational book on business, motivation, marketing?

Yep, George's book is definitely worth a read.

The best small business / entrepreneurial book I've read in many years is Streets Smarts by Norm Brodsky who writes a column in Inc every month.

He's not selling any formula, but simply how to get into the mindframe of being a small business entrepreneur. From start to finish it's high quality, no-bullshit advice.

Are you people for real???
Did you actually fork out hard earned cash for pish like that?
I'm amazed by how gullible human beings are.
I'll probably write a book about it, looks like there is an audience for shite books.

On a slightly different topic of book I've just bought 'How to write a childrens picture book and get it published' by Andrea Shavick.

I'd like to write one for a hobby and dedicate it to my daughter.

I thought about that. wonder how it works teaming up with an illustrator. Do they get a percentage or do you employ them/tie in.

Hi Guys

I'll keep you updated sure.

I'm going to illustrate it myself first, I have some illustration skills from a media design course I have just finished.

If I had to look for an illustrator I'd probably ask on gumtree and see if I entice some students to submit a character design once the story was almost complete.

If you can get your story accepted by a publisher I think they have their own illustrators they can use too.

I found one called something like The Elephant in the Room which was surprisingly a thought provoker, nothing radical more just ordering of thoughts :)

I'll try and find where the book is to get a more accurate name.

To answer the question about illustrators, the book I have says you just write the text and the publisher (if he likes it) finds an illustrator.

Unless you self publish, then you'll have to find an illustrator.

I think the illustration is a big part of childrens books.

Back on subject i'm reading Influence as we speak and good so far.

Would recommend "Exploiting Chaos" by Jeremy Geutsche aka trendhunter as fairly interesting.

I have a copy I can send to someone in return for a few decent ebooks.

Also read a few sunday times books such as
How I started my business during tough times which is interviews with some big brand founders.

I need some recommendations for books to read.

Someone recommend a good educational book on business, motivation, marketing. ;)

I was listening to Warren Buffett yesterday and he made reference to the fact that he took a "Dale Carnegie course" in the 1950's shortly after leaving business school.
I think it's a huge compliment for Buffett to mention Carnegie and if you haven't read Dale Carnegie that was a good recommendation.

I suggest Who Moved My Cheese by Dr Spencer Johnson
It's different but very good, for someone who's hit a brick wall once or twice this is truly inspirational.
