Is there any precident for Nominet deleting a domain name registration which is essientialy nonsense - ie. doesn't have a legal entity for the registrant?

Will they always delete such registrations on request? If not how do they decide?

Nominet will always go to great lengths to try to contact the registrant (i.e. the person who registered the domain name). In line with the Terms and Conditions of Registration, Nominet may well decide to suspend and then delete a particular domain name if they cannot establish who the correct registrant is and/or if the contact details are incorrect; but they do not do it without first trying to contact the person who registered it to give them the opportunity of correcting the whois.

If we cannot get the registration details corrected then yes we will cancel in the end.

If thats the case why do the group that registered xxxx town/village domains in 1999 still not have an address after nearly 7 years in the whois.

Do you have a backlog?

The organisation that owns it (Worldpay) was taken over by [Royal] Bank of Scotland and the limited co. it was operating under is now no longer active.

In the process of trying their hardest to find who to contact in order to renew the domain, Nominet are unable to find for the life of them who could possibly own this domain.

It is very tricky.

You need to be able to read more than one line.

What is the problem with this reg?

The Registrant (Interactive Telephony (UK) Ltd) would appear to have been dissolved in 1997. There is no Interactive Telephony Ltd listed so far as I can see.

The "old rules" only apply if:

"... 1. the registrant is a company;

#3 might be the deciding factor.

..but isn't the quoted company number to an active business?

Surley Worldpay/ RBS would just need a vesting order to take control of the domain. Not so tricky.

Or, restore the company and transfer the reg.
