Hi, I'm interested in this idea but not sure if I'm posting in the right place - there doesn't seem much activity in the rental thread. So as a new member I'll try my luck here.

My questions are... Is this viable and secondly, is it legal in the UK (perhaps I have to be registered somewhere?)

That's just a sale on an instalment plan, with the nameservers changed but not ownership until the balance is paid or the rental is terminated.

It's a trust and contractual issue. Your chief problems are the same as rental - tenants trashing the reputation of the domain, or not paying in time.
