How does it work?

In my understanding, once you have recieved an offer on one of your domains, you can start an auction using the offer as the reserver price. Is this correct and the only way to start an auction - can you start one with receiving an offer?

And then what happens? Payment goes into... my PayPal?

I'm really new to this, as you may be able to see

I just did my first auction, basically I received an offer on a domain and rather than just accept it, i put it to auction to see if there were any higher offers (there weren't, this often seems to be the case).

The auction completed and the initial bid price so now the transaction moves to the transfer stage, after Sedo have been paid by the buyer.

How you receive the payment depends on what details you have set up in you Sedo account, do yourself a favour a get it paid direct to your bank account to save the paypal charges.

Just another quick question... is it possible to start an auction without an offer? If not, is it worth me paying the 9 euros to have my domain featured in its category so that it attracts people to make an offer?

I think it is possible if you pay. And whether it's worth paying the 9 euros, it probably depends on how much you're expecting to get for the domain. If you think it will sell for a lot of money, 9 euros might not a big risk. I don't know how effective it is to have a domain featured.

If your domain is classed as a Great Domain (aka Sedo too), then it is sometimes possible to start an auction without bids. Sedo may even approach you to place that great domain in an auction to help them make up the numbers.

As for paying 9 Euros for a feature listing, depending on the domain this could bring your name to the attention of around 200 interested parties in that month rather than just a handful of people who come across it by manual searches.

Paying the 9 euros will save you the time you need to advertise your domain in forums and stuff, and also you'll be sure that many big buyers see it (as opposed to many people seeing it, and only a few being big buyers)
