I just got this question from other forum and I found it interesting to discuss here.

Here's the question: Is it better when thinking about SEO for your site to

1. "have a go yourself" (when you know now about it , just how important it is) or
2. pay someone to do it
or
3. pay someone to teach you?

Kindly share your ideas.

SEO is pretty simple really imo so i'd get someone else to write content (im lazy!) and then optimise it with on page seo myself (seo is going to be the same principles, whatever niche you're in). Then do links/off page seo myself and/or pay someone else to do the rest of the off page seo.

hope that helps :)

^ very good book. Read it a couple of months ago and would definitely recommend.

SEO is not rocket science. I provide SEO services at a cost but provided you have good information on how to do it then you can do it yoruself.
Just follow the good rules and avoid black hat SEO traps.

If you feel confident in doing it then it wont hurt to give it a bash mate.

Do it yourself you can learn SEO by reading free ebooks online..

If you have a small site / blog, that would be good to learn the SEO. But if you have a big site and has big competitive keywords, then it's better to hire some company to do so. Well, that's my view only.

also by learning it yourself, you will then know what to look for when using someone else's services
