I’m happy to announce the sale of skate.co.uk. I’ve actually had several emails from members here since the transfer in February, but could not comment at the buyer’s request.

It was a difficult decision as it wasn’t something I had intended to sell, but on balance it was the right decision and has allowed me to develop griptape.co.uk further and to acquire snooker.co.uk which I’m really looking forward to working with once I get the time and a solid idea together.

I’m not able to discuss price, but it may be interesting for some to know that the buyer initially advertised on the site and decided it would be worthwhile acquiring.

You've done really well to nab a sport related domain name like snooker. I'm sure this was a 'Velvet' domain, but it changed hands some years ago, so I imagine with all those involved that you've not used loose change to get it, but paid a decent wedge.

Thanks for the nice comments. I agree with what most have said about snooker being better than skate, although skate was an established site earning a reasonable return etc. The value was in the whole package, rather than just in the domain, i.e. the traffic, revenue, goodwill and similarities to the name and use of the buyer etc. This would be more valuable to the buyer than the average domainer. Snooker has more value as a domain, but as its not developed it has a long way to go before its potential is realised.

On that note, if anyone has any ideas feel free to pass them over. I'd had my eye on it for years so have some ideas, but I'd be interested to know what people think.
