From the prices premium domains are being sold for on DomainLore I can also attest that the recession has hit domainers pretty hard. Even the prolific re-sellers.
Speed.co.uk is certainly a 5 figures name to an end user.

Just to say althought it went for £3-£4k
It doesn't mean that any of us could have got it for that. Just depends how much the highest bidder would have gone for it, they could have gone up to £10k, we'll never know. But a cracking price for it.

I agree though with vizzy, lots of bargains about however there is a difference between pointing that out and being an 'aftertimer' style poster. For the record Paul aint one of them

I was going to drive this name up to GBP5000 but I have a life and I needed to meet with someone. So I quit the office. Otherwise, I could have gotten a damage which can not be reversed by monetary units

Which part do you not believe DB ?
Anyone with media accreditation can get a press pass for the show, since its pretty much Clarksons OWN event, he's pottering around, you get 5 minutes to talk to him and do some 'press shots', While doing this, maybe you could mention you have a great domain name, can you have a number for his people to talk about it ?
This is where you HOPE that he asks about the name, If he doesn't ask then you say yeah the domain name is Speed.co.uk and since you do a SPEED Arena, it would be a cool name, blah. Roll the dice, get proactive and try your luck! Worst case he says No, or gives you his peoples number and they say No.
Secondly, I hadn't just missed Goodwood, which is called the Festival of SPEED (are we seeing a theme here) Goodwood - Festival of Speed, I'd gone down in person and tried my luck with their organisers, they have goodwood, so why not have speed.co.uk for their marketing ? Now its gone, I'd still try my luck with them.
Maybe both will say No Thanks, but thats the punt we take isnt it ?

I don't know about everyone else, but I work within my available funds, this is why I am still buying and everyone else is selling because I've kept within my budgets.
As for low prices, of course I'm going to try and get a 5k name for 2k, I wouldnt want a 5k name for 7k would i ?. If i only have 3k in my funds and the seller wants 5k, what I am going to do, Sell a kidney to buy it ?
As for 2 faced people saying whatever behind closed doors, really bothered, wanna say something about me, grow a pair like you did, I respect you more for saying it to my face, as for others I'm telling my mummy
