Timing of DomainLore auctions

I've noticed (unless I'm just imagining it) that not many DomainLore auctions end at the weekend.

Is that deliberate, i.e. do people avoid posting auctions that will end at the weekend because weekends are worse for bidding?

Thanks
Richard

I've always assumed it is because some people switch off from work/domains at weekends (well, maybe not catching them - I guess people are never off-duty if they're dropcatching). I think perhaps there are some people who switch off from work/domains as much as possible at weekends, so the assumption may be that you get a higher number of people tracking the auctions during office hours?

It's a bit like that here at Acorn. You tend to get more posts on weekdays (if I am not mistaken) and then it quietens down a bit at weekends.

Good luck with Dyspraxia, btw. Nice pair of names, and I hope they end up in good hands.

I think that must be the explanation Susannah. Also, in the past when I've intended to bid on a domain at a weekend, I've been more likely to forget (or just lose track of time) than I would have done during the week.

Thanks for your good wishes regarding the Dyspraxia pair, which are on DomainLore until Friday (see what I did there?). I agree, let's hope they end up in the right hands.

Many thanks for this @seemly – I'm really happy to see that my question has inspired a blog post!

And a very interesting post too. I'm especially struck by how many fewer sales there are on Saturday than Sunday. Sunday lags way behind all 5 days of the working week, but for every 16 Sunday sales there's only 1 on a Saturday!

Thanks again :)
Richard
