Transferring wordpress blog to buyer

Wasn't sure what board to use so took the safe option of "General" hope that's ok!

I'm looking to sell a wordpress blog, but need to know in advance the best, quickest, securest way of transferring the content. It's on a dot org so the domain name push will be simple, it's the content that I'm not sure about.

Can anyone give a step by step guide?

If you are on a recognised control panel, you can usually run a full backup of the account and give that to the buyer who can restore.

Alternatively, dump the database and web root folder and give these.

That's what I did, FTP into your web host and copy all the files to a local folder, zip it and send it.

Get a PHPMyAdmin session into the DB and do a dump of that, send the resulting SQL file.

Have a think about the username/passwords you have used, you might want to change those to something generic before you send the files over, especially if you use the same information for other sites.

1. If its on a cpanel host i think have an option for a backup that can be instaled on on any other cpanel host.

3. Sometimes you can backup the theme to a zip and export the blog to an xml file using the wordpress admin. this last option is ok for simple blogs but anything thats been moded or uses a lot of plugins doesent always work
