Think my favourite by them was BBC weather Twitter account ” Saudi weather station down due to head-on collision with camel.":D

sorry, am I being a bit slow here, this Syrian electronic army hack into twitter and change the DNS and then brag about it on twitter ? is this the general idea or am I forgetting something ?

Twitter domain hacked by Syrian Electronic Army.

Looks like they have also taken over the New York Times

Maybe the start of something sinister

"Update II: The New York Times writes that hackers were able to change their DNS registration by attacking their registrar, Melbourne IT, apparently the same one used by Twitter."

This is significant breach of security. I wonder how customers of Melbourne IT will react.

Earlier Today, Syrian Electronic Army hacked into the Melbourne IT Server and changed the DNS records of NYTimes, Twitter, HuffingtonPost and few other domains. It appears the admin failed to reset the password and hackers still have access to the server- They have defaced the Melbourne IT's blog ( www.melbourneit.com.au/blog). "Hacked By SEA, Your Servers security is very weak" the defacement message reads. At the time of writing, the blog is taken down by the admin and displaying error message "Service Temporarily Unavailable". - See more at: http://www.ehackingnews.com/2013/08/melbourne-it-blog-hacked-by-syrian.html#sthash.H4Oe3g9o.dpuf

How embarrassing to Melbourne IT

"Many of the world’s leading brands use Melbourne IT to secure their online brand and assets. We provide a full range of website security solutions to protect you from the most blunt to the most sophisticated threats."

yes and these people are president Assad supporters, they will be slightly peeved when a 500lb bomb hits his office in approximately 24 hours

well they are hacking accounts in support of Assad, there likely to be even more proactive when the west decide to attack the Assad regime.

You are giving them too much credit ;) Their methods are in fact quite amateurish, they get a lot of press because they have gone after prominent targets but the attacks were quite basic. They could be bored kids.
