Sad to see him go as he was a decent contributor.

Losing a couple of decent members happens with all forums... however it seems that its happening more often

his last post wasnt edited to a dot, a quote was removed that i made that i felt i didnt want quoting, the rest of his post was left intact.

it is a different thing when members are asking me to edit other peoples threads and post in the past when they have been quoted and didnt want to so it is swings and roundabouts. If anyone pms or emails me asking to mod something i will look at it. I try my best as a mod, if you dont like it then take that up with admin.

I wasnt having a pop

I gave a view to why hes left as his last post was a dot. Usually that means someone has written a reply, then thought 'I cant be arsed with this' and deleted it.

On a wider point, if people dont want to be quoted, they probably ought not be posting on a messageboard

The reason i edited my post and removed my quote from his post was i thought i was replying to admin but in the moderators section and i felt after realising this i didnt want the post to be seen. it wasnt anything bad as you can ask admin or ty what i put but i felt i made the post in error thus wanted it removing. I then pmed ty explaining this and apologised.

Yes is a shame.

Many moons ago I was having difficulty with a website sale. My host had buggered off for the weekend and not being a Nominet member I had little personal control. Ty offered to help, gave him a call one Saturday afternoon - he managed to solve the problem after some digging around which meant my sale went through successfully.

Despite me asking to drop across an invoice for his time he wouldn't hear of it.

Shame we lose people on this forum such as Ty

Yep Ty has always been a good person to ask advice, he has helped me a few times since i started in Domains.

Ty asked me to retire his account for reasons of which you can ask him. I had a long telephone conversation with him to discuss options but it was his wish that for professional reasons he does not want his name showing in public on here.

This thread will be removed soon as it shows his name but I don't want that to lead to any conspiracy theory or reposting of new threads as I'll automatically remove any new threads to respect his wishes.

I have had 13 people retire in 7 years so I don't think it's happening very often, people just decide for different reasons to spend time here or not and when they go typically they don't want to leave a post trail on such a well indexed site.
