Adam who wrote the article is a member of the forum http://www.acorndomains.co.uk/members/addz123.html
Sorry for any confusion. I sent an email to Adam Grunwerg, who wrote the original article criticising the Nominet .uk proposal to make him aware of Nominet's reply article.
In the hope that he would write another Guardian article possibly attacking the lack of any depth and content of the Nominet response.
I have posted a detailed comment to the latest Guardian piece (in fact, I got a bit over-enthusiastic with the "submit" button and posted part of it twice - oh, well)
One thing I am still unsure about is that if you own a .co.uk domain or other uk domain and have done so for quite some time, but havent yet get around to developing it, you dont have any rights to get the corresponding .uk domain? Is this correct? Even if you have spent money on paying a website designer or graphic designer, but havent put the site live yet, or actually havent yet had it developed in to a working website?
Also, there is mention of a cut off date. What about all the thousands of businesses that have just bought and started a business on a uk domain name but obviously havent got a clue about nominets proposals because they havent told anyone (businesses) about them yet? Surely by buying a .co.uk or or.uk domain and starting a business on it, you should have a right to hear about what nominet are proposing to do, and you should have a right to buy the corresponding .uk domain regarding of any time period, unless you have been informed directly by Nominet.

Im sure this is false advertising. Any business that has taken nominet's advice and setup a business on .co.uk and invested money in the domain, should be able to take legal action against nominet, if they dont manage to secure the corresponding .uk domain and someone else uses it to setup a similar business which is confusingly similar to their clients.

Please... I understand people are coming late to the subject, but some of the so-called "revelations" raised in the last few pages of posts to this thread have been discussed in great detail for nearly two months already (e.g. the likely revenue to Nominet) so I'd urge anyone who's still unclear about the consequences of Nominet's CURRENT proposal to read

Failing that, we're going to just keep raking over the same things again and again and again, with all parties to the discussion getting more and more angry about the "injustices" in Nominet's proposal - but we won't actually achieve anything other than high blood pressure by doing so!
