I am working with a new client who's previous web design company registered both of her domains in their name.

I rang up on her behalf and they would not do a nominet transfer only a TAG change.

They are now transferred to a registrar of her choice and with her account details.

I did a nominet account reset but I didn't receive anything. Would they new registrar not update the new email with nom?

I've never done a transfer like this so not sure

Some registrars allow that field to be edited from the control panel, some don't.

She may need to ask the registrar to manually update the admin email field. You can also check with Nominet, they should tell you if it's now on her email address.

Failing that, A TAG holder on here could change it if you shifted it over to their TAG.

Out of interest, how did you manage to get Nominet to change the TAG on a domain that wasn't owned by her or yourself, did you have to send documentation over?

Out of interest if this works for you can TAG holders do this to avoid transfer fees or is it against nominets terms

All that does is change the admin email address which is used to access the Nominet account for the domain. The registrant transfer would still need doing and paying for as it doesn't change the registrant name.
