I assume you can use a different registrar to the one you used for your .co.uk or does this cause problems.
Anyone know if it should be ok or anyone have any experience?

on heartinternet it says please transfer your .co.uk in to them first before trying to register the .uk version with them.

Nominet say you may choose to register your .uk domain with a different registrar if you want to.

Heart's policy is about securing more business and other Registrars won't make that a condition of registering a .uk.

The key point is that the Registrant and the address used to register the .uk match that of the co.uk.

We have registered a lot of .uks for people where the .co.uk is not with us, mainly in circumstances where they're with a registrar that wasn't ready or set up to handle the .uk registrations. Nominet will allow it as long as all of the registrant details including the email address match. Nominet will then send an email to the registrant email, asking them to confirm that they have indeed registered the .uk version of their name.
