Using Paypal in domain transaction.

Hi,

I was just wondering if any of you have used Paypal as the method for receiving funds when selling domains. If so, how have you found it? Was it glitch free, or did you encounter problems?

Any comments would be appreciated.

Done a couple with paypal last month no problems. If the buyer is in the UK I usually ask for a cheque but for folks in other countries paypal is just alot easier. The last two I did where in the USA and Germany.

Used Paypal many times in domain sales and never had a problem. When it's really big money then I always use Escrow.com who I highly recommend.

PayPal works fine but their fees can get expensive.

Also be aware that if they go bust (unlikely), they only cover you for about £1,000 in your account so shift the funds out to your bank if it is more than this.

I only accept paypal payments from verified users, I have had a problem with a website sale where the guy used a stolen CC, it's also not hard to do charge backs.

I've used paypal on egay for years and never had any problems (touch wood)
Apart from the extortionate fees!!!
What am I doing recommending paypal!!! I hate egay!!!!!

I have used PayPal to sell domains and stuff on eBay with no problems, all less than £500 per transaction. Fees do feel high, but it is accessible.

When it's really big money then I always use Escrow.com who I highly recommend.

How much do you consider 'really big money'?

I lost a deal for a domain last week for £2.5k because I didn't want to pay Escrow fees and neither did the buyer. I wanted payment by BACS and I'd transfer the domain once I had cleared funds. The buyer wanted his solicitor to hold the payment while I transferred the domain. All went quiet

What amount makes it sensible to use Escrow?

lol was the number for samaritans? There are normally lots of helplines for addictions. Dunno if there's one for buying crap domains though?

Be careful - it could have been some social engineers after your ebay login details

I don't like using PayPal because of the charges. If your sale is in dollars then your not gonna be left with a lot if sale is only small.

I will start using Nochex from now on, although I need to upgrade my account so I can receive payment from countries other than the UK.
