Virgin Pure Waterbar

Just thought I'd drop this info in here.

Had a Virgin Pure T6 Waterbar installed this week and it's an impressive bit of kit. We had it installed next to the sink, above our washing machine and now we have chilled filtered cold water and boiling water available from one machine.

We'd previously had jug water filters for cold water and a Breville One Cup for making cups of tea, this has replaced both (we dumped the kettle when we got the Breville).

I saw this on Facebook a few days ago. I do like the fact that it's plumbed in, but the idea of KettleAsAService just seems wrong somehow.

You can buy the unit outright, £450, but then you've got to purchase your own replacement filters and UV lamps.

For us, the monthly option suited our lifestyle and requirements.

If it was a HP thing where the device is yours after 12-24 months, I'd consider it. I'm not renting a kettle though.

We replaced a Breville One Cup with the Virgin Pure and this is so much hotter. The water I believe is 98 degrees.

retain all waters essential natural minerals like like calcium, magnesium and fluoride

For a water purifier, seems weird to put fluoride as a plus seeing as all the fuss people make about ingesting it

Really good, each morning I fill 4 water bottles for the family, all chilled and filtered and then straight away do 2 travel mugs of tea for the grown ups.

When I'm at home then I'm constantly refilling my water bottle.

We had my elderly relatives stay at the weekend, it was great for them as they didn't have to list a heavy kettle.

The child lock is good with our two children, although we don't let them roam free in the kitchen.

Our only criticism is we wish we'd bought a different colour from the range with a more contrasting scheme! We will certainly swap it at the end of the 12 mths for a different colour.

Something to be aware of is how the boiling water function works. You can set 2 wake up times a day, in our house we have 1 which is 6am. At this point boiling water is instant and will be maintained for 1hr. If the machine is used in the hour it will again maintain until its been unused for 1 hr. You can also set a hard energy saving time.

If you try and draw water and the temperature has now cooled down then there's a period of bringing the water back up to boiling temperature.

I like the idea, but it looks big and ugly for me, maybe the Breville One Cup would suit me better. The missus adds enough clutter to the kitchen as it is, I love my gadgets but I'm not sure id sacrifice a nice looking kitchen for it unless it had a place to go out of the way.
