http://www.independent.co.uk/life-s...ith-caymans-over-cym-domain-name-2125677.html :D

so does raise question, if wales , scotland etc break off eventually with own domain extension, as they want to, where does that leave the .uk ?

in the minds of the world, all of us, particularly england will always be the 'uk' but it does raise this question

thoughts?

ps: that is a believable football score in the headline too. you thought that when you first clicked , didn't you ? :D

what a waste of money trying that anyway

That's not an anti-welsh thing... just that there's more than enough suffixes floating about as it is...

TW

please tell me you believed it as a football score though? :D

I wouldn't be surprised if this is a political move since the powers that be don't want wales becoming more separate so removing the possibility of their prefered domain extension throws a spanner in the works

I was up in Porthmadog (North Wales) last week and saw a delicatessen with btwri.com on the window. In Welsh, bwtri is delicatessen.

Fabulous - many of those premium names in Welsh are available as .com

Partially solves the .cym problem

cheers, Luke

Speak for yourself. I don't like being classed as British, I'm English. The other nations tagged onto us don't bring much to the party in my eyes, apart from great scenery.

</stands well back>

there aren't enough characters allowed in a post to list the worlds top writers, musicians, inventors, poets, scientists, nobel winners, sportsmen etc. from scotland, ireland, wales imho, both past and present

music alone if you took those nations out your favourite artists there wouldn't be many sole artists or bands i bet

also your own ancestry, take them out i bet you wouldn't be here
or any of us lol

something we should have done years ago was have a gb football team as each of the teams has had virtually no success. together we could have really done something imho
we're such a tiny island, to subdivide the talent hurts everyone

Hands off Bale Ramsey etc.

Ramsey is going to end up making Messi look like a pub player :)

I don't think many non-English would have got into a GB team at football. Perhaps the problem positions for England, on the left or in goal, could have been sorted by Bale and McGregor/Gordon, but I don't think there would have been too many others in the 23, let alone the starting 11.

In my opinion full independence is the biggest threat to the .co.uk domain ext. That being said it is very unlikely that anyone would want to drop their site from .co.uk to concentrate on a .eng, .sco or .cym

Nobody would be calling for a reduction of their customer base such as English shops losing 6 million customers from their neighbours and or scots losing 50 million English visitors.

But you never know people's appetite for commercial suicide sometimes :D

i don't just mean now, but historically

imagine what giggs could have done for England. and he's still brilliant, and a great professional
Souness ,McCoist, Dalgleish!, Law etc.

George Best!

plus many players like giggs have been serving their clubs and countries for best part of 20 years
there's only 11 positions to fill :D

anyway, no chance it'll ever happen. we're moving apart as countries not closer

England, Scotland, Wales and NI are all being subsumed into the EU anyway. Every decade there's another treaty agreeing massive a transfer of power over to the EU while the puppets in Westminster pretend to still be doing something. All this talk of independence is a joke. Everywhere is becoming less independent politically as government becomes globally more centralised.

Agreed - and the clamour for independence in Wales and Scotland has dissipated in the last few years. Why would they want independence - we in England are subsidising them whilst they get better healthcare, education etc. I think the campaigns for independence in Wales and Scotland were smokescreens - to stop the English bothering to campaign for their own independence and the financial benefits it would bring.
