Just caught the end of Eastenders, one of the kids on their had setup an imaginary web site called watchagrownmanrot.co.uk which featured his lazy slob of a father.

Thought I'd register the domain and hopefully pick up some type in traffic, was suprised to find domain name already registered by the BBC, and the imaginary web site live.

Who says the BBC squander away our licence fees :???:

CNBC done this lol, when connan o'brian said randomly in one of his shows hornymanatee.com it was CNBC's policy to reg the domain, so they now own that domain and developed it lol.

BT ran a few nice adverts about a year ago maybe less with some nice domains on it.

Was before the best man speech adverts they were very nice ones that they never registered and one I almost did.

In this case just a waste of money probaly unless you can get them clicking thru or doing something.

People have been known to phone telephone numbers etc which have been advertised on enders so you never know what might happen with this.

Hopefully your make your money back but I deffinatly wouldnt renew it.

Ok so you havent registered the domain name and just had a look shocked theres no adverts or anything else on it.

Chances are its an experiment from the beeb to see how domains work in relation to tv placements.

So this small toe in the water is probaly being measured for other possible domains in the future to which can earn revenue.

As far as I'm aware, they always reg domains that are used in programmes and they 'develop' some as appropriate. You won't find advertising on them though as the bbc don't (currently) do advertising.

One I remember from a while back was a gardening forum in a detective show - can't think which it was (might even have not been on the bbc?) and I'm sure that they had a site like this set up for spooks a few years back.

Wish I could remember the ones that BT done ages ago there was one fantastic one, I think it was for something like friends reunited and they had an alien one as well.

I wish the beeb would do some advertising too cancel out the TV licence though, with neighbours moving to channel five, I could easily do without enders and its depressing story lines.

If I was a londoner I would have committed suicide by now watching that program.
