We have just started a new domain registration site called www.lowreg.co.uk

Low cost ethical domain registrar.

Not really trying to drum up custom, neither do I want lots and lots of comments about how we could have done it better lol, merely saying hello as I spend lots of time here on acorn :)

To the acorner stars that helped me sort a couple of small problems with my side of things, thanks so much.

Should you see any obvious mistakes, please send me a pm

One of the better designed sites seen presented lately. Love how the menu highlights the section you are in as you move down the page. Hmmm wonder how you did that?

Pricing is good, are the server(s) located in the UK? (doesn't seem to be mentioned)

Same day response Mon-Fri 9am-6pm, within 48 Hours at other times, current customers please use contact link within members area

Personally, that would stop me buying. If I have a problem with a domain name then it potentially stops an earning website functioning.... no way I'd be willing to wait 2 days to have it looked at.

I realise I'm likely not your target market though, as I own < 50 'real' domains :)

Nice name, nice site and a nice part of the country you live in.

Good luck with it.

the last 24 hours has been very painful for me as half of the ~100 hosts I use were down for many hours trying to patch their servers for the bash exploit. 48 hours is pretty extreme. thanks for the heads-up.

Posting on an expert site with a few years worth of experience seeing people's web sites being pulled apart, well it definitely wasn't my intention of trying to impress anyone.

I posted as I and my partner are members here just to say hello and should out service suit, just say we're here.

The 48 hours was a max time put on in response to nominets accreditation terms saying it had to be within 3 days.

Due to the small product offering any problems will be easily identified and support requests answers accordingly as quick. Should someone however send a complaint in saying their toe nails are too long we may at our discretion take 48 hours to respond.

We don't own the servers for hosting they are from a fabulous company and we use them as they offer the best support by miles.

Domains are simply pointed at name servers and we manage the registration and billing side.

Everyone must start somewhere and we have started here. Value for money businesses don't always win everyone over and we don't expect to either.

Thanks to everyone for their best wishes but no more negativity please even via stealth tactics. It says more about you than our site could ever say about us.

That had me in tears. That ogre in the jungle style really suits you. People
In the school playground now wondering what's up with me wiping tears away.

:p

I should take my skills to fiverr lol.

Looks good, but the lack of real 'about us' company info and the use of a virtual office address would put me right off.

Caz
Where it says choose a name, eg domain.com, you should change that to .co.uk as your error checking says .com is not a valid domain (after suggesting it as an example)

Exactly.

You're asking people to put their business in your hands here.... the site has zero credibility currently.

Its easy to fix though - get a ltd company setup for < £20, get the info all over the site, get a customer support number, fill in a proper about us page with pics of the staff/office etc.

I try and look at my own sites from a customer point of view and ask myself "what do I think of this?" and be as critical/honest as possible.

If you look at that site yourself and honestly ask yourself if you'd buy a domain and host your business on it, whats the answer?
