I sold a couple of names a while back, when we still had the paper transfers, but it seems like the new owner never sent the transfer papers off, so as it stands the names are still in my name and I am recieving renewal notices from Nominet.

The latest message is that the name is suspended,.

I wouldn't mind renewal these names if the current owner (forgot who I sold them to) doesn't want them, is it possible to do this or even ethical?

Obviously they are not getting the renewal notices, but then again if they didn't bother to complete the transfer, or check the renewal dates???

I think you should be able to renew them seeing that it's you on the WHOIS.

I would say renew them, because at least then you could decide to give them up if the buyer asks you. Otherwise the dropcatchers might have them.

Rgds

I'd ask the owner if he wants them. If he says no, I'd renew them and keep them. If he says yes, I would renew them, and transfer them to him through the online process.

Did the 'new owner' pay for it? If not then there is no contractual obligation to transfer the domain making your offer to transfer merely gratuitous. Until the transfer occurs the domain is rightfully yours. If he did pay then did he receive the transfer papers?

Thanks for your replys

Trouble is they are on a different registra so I dont have any control over them, nameservers would need changing.
