Thanks for that :)

Being able to 'strike' your bell at just the right time is a key part of ringing. We even have 'striking competitions' between more experienced bands - these can be a bit nerve-wracking.

It is a nice hobby. It's social, mainly secular (in case you wondered) and really satisfying once you've got a grasp of the basics. Inter-generational too - at last Tuesday's practice, I had 11 year olds ringing alongside Mike who's well into his 80's.

An amusing idea, a secular church ringing its bells to remind its customers when it is time not to bother coming to prayers.
There must be a sitcom in that, maybe Clarkson preaching to the empty pews?

I'd better get my coat....

I am researching dogs at the moment. Interesting wiki link for popular Kennel club breeds http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_most_popular_dog_breeds.

This will be mostly my dog but my parents who live down the road will share responsibility. It can't be a large dog neither a dog which is to small so i'm currently thinking an English Cocker Spaniel. A dog which is 2nd on UK's kennel club popularity says alot imo.

Remember to call it one name, and stick with it. Swapping and changing all the time just confuses matters :)

Deposit was paid for a Female Lab yesterday, we pick her up in 3 and 1/2 weeks time. We found a local breeder via http://www.thekennelclub.org.uk/ who turned out to be extremely professional breeders. Cost was £750, but the pup is from KC certified breeders and has history of pedigree.

Should be good! I used to have a Golden Retriever when I was a kid, and I do miss having a dog sometimes.

I thought I might try that today as well, but in the end I decided I'd do it tomorrow.

:D

I almost did but why do tomorrow what can be done today, I say! This level of procrastination has taken me years to achieve so I'm getting right to it. I'm on a roll.
