yup, fair few been going through DL over the last few months. It would be funny if G turned that dial back and brought some of the 2005 magic back.. who knows..

You need some automated mechanism to distinguish a good domain from a bad one, and there aren't that many things you can measure from just the domain alone.

Don't knock it, just go with the flow.

I reckon some have value, but mainly are a nice compliment to an existing businesses product range.

I prefer brandables!

I think regardless of the ranking bonus change in EMDs. They still do have pluses to them in things like memorability, more clickable and occasional type in traffic, for a couple of hundred £ this is peanuts for a small-medium sized business who may use this domain for years. Of course this does depend on the EMD domain.

I'm not besmirching them, I'm just fascinated at the relatively sudden upsurge in EMD interest.

We use them all the time, and pick them up when we can. However.......

We only use local service ones, in the niches that we trade in.
We build sites on them, and link that site in one or two places back to our 'brand' site. However, the EMD has all contact details on.
For us, it works well. From talking to customers, I got the impression that unless a national well known name comes up in results, they normally aren't interested in brands, where as an EMD will say that you do what the customers want, rather than it being a bolt on to another business.
That said, there are a few instances where we rank both EMD and brand for same *town *trade* result (and *trade*Town*)

I wouldn't have any interest in insurance, holidays, pets etc EMDs as the market is to saturated, and any influence an EMD might be able to offer, would be negated by the number of competitors.

Looking at the search results, it seems PMD have the edge over EMD?

What do you guys prefer? EMD / PMD ?

don't take a genius to work it out

We have been buying lots of EMD for a interesting project we have in build.....we can buy 1000's but not any particular one is of great value to us...so more than happy for people to list loads, email them over, pm them or list on DL.

We simply will buy the best ones on the day.

Didn't go unnoticed that you've been bidding on quite a few of these recently ;)

:)

Thought enough people would notice.

We have a few hundred now and quite exciting:)
