Why wasn't there a public comment period before the RFQ went out? It would appear that the DOC prefers .us to be a failed domain under its thumb than a successful domain responding to public and market interests. You don't need an MBA to see the marketing potential of .us if it were properly handled, and you don't need to be Milton Friedman to see that the government doesn't know how to run a domain registry properly. Unfortunately, it's probably too late for .us, and it will languish for at least a few more years.

Not only are they dictating policy.
they are also trying to dictate policy and running of the UK domainers.
think about it.
we have parking companys mostly american trying to dictate whats going on and some people bend over and take the cash.
the UK needs to stand on its own two feet with regards
parking/development/domains/shows/

Regarding parking the main advert feeds are USA based companies ie. google etc so unless you have a Glasoogle lined up... :)
