Wireless IP Cameras

I forgot to say. You can set Blue Iris to also send the clips via ftp to wherever, so if someone was to break in, steal the tower and the NAS, you still have the clips saved on a server.

My brother has a different set up. He owns a farm and uses the outbuildings for a commercial car storage business.

He has 4 wireless cams. They are connected via a 5ghz transmitter. They are all logged in to a hard drive recorder. The recorder is connected to his router and he has email motion detection alerts and can also log in remotely for live view and playback.

Still records as usual if the internet goes down.

I've had my cameras set up for 6yrs and the internet has never gone down. (had wifi plug for 9 months and it has never failed/gone offline)

A quick update I purchased a couple of the Foscam FI9805W and Blue Iris software came with them, all set up and recording to a NAS for the time being so client is very happy, so far so good.

Foscam support are worse than useless. Called up to ask a couple of very simple questions and did not understand what I was saying, I asked to speak to someone that could speak English, anyway I won't rant any further..

Guess you get what you pay for.
