Hi

Wondered what fellow 'domainers' thought of wonkyproduce.co.uk following the announcement that ASDA are to retail wonky fruit and veg following customer demand.

Cheers Russ

Not worth reg fee to be honest. Asda may well be selling wonky fruit and veg but don't expect a retailer to make a business out of selling wonky fruit and veg on it's own as this domain would suggest. Also i notice you use the word "produce", what else other than fruit or veg would be wonky?

Thanks for your thoughts

I like it :)

It's a good and catchy name in a market that may become very popular. Asda have increased their order of wonky boxes due to their popularity.

The word "produce" covers everything that is farmed so works perfectly in my opinion.

Well that's a positive and thanks for your response

I like it too. Fits quite nicely with a subscription box service - and everyone knows how much I love those! :)

Thanks for yet another positive opinion - after something of a 'wonky' start! (Sorry)

All opinions great fully received - Russ

I wouldn't register it tbh, but I know very little of how this crazy market works!

I like it too, not sure it's worth anything though.

Also I think I prefer WonkyVeg.co.uk

Why do people want wonky veg? I don't understand. Am I the crazy one or is it everyone else?

Aren't they cheaper?

Also it was pretty wasteful and bad for farmers the fact they couldn't sell malformed vegetables to supermarkets

Not sure if they sold them elsewhere for cheaper or just destroyed them.. should google and check really.

Apparently they keep all the 'good veg' for processed food :)
It doesn't add up... But Jamie & his mates are doing well on it.

That would be the logical way if you were to try & tackle the issue of food waste.
But if you stick it in a box & market it as trendy product - Your quids in.

Best of luck to them.

It's a UK thing, they have been selling "wonky veg" in most other EU countries for years but us brits are too fussy and didn't like our veg looking imperfect.

I agree with the concept as i couldn't care less what my veg looks like but i still really don't see any value in the domain name to be honest.

Bought my first wonky veg at Morrisons a few days ago. Half the price of the regular veg. The carrots were actually nicer. Smaller but tasted better but I had a few bad onions in the pack.

As for the domain. I can't see much value in it due to lack of development potential.

Saw something on TV once about a superrmarket in Spain where "wonky" veg and fruit was being sold.

They set up a little stall offering perfectly shaped red English strawberries for customers to try. The Spanish obviously loved the look of them, but any love disappeared when they tasted them. Like so much fruit and veg on sale in the UK, they had none of the flavour that we once enjoyed and that most of the EU still enjoys.

I remember being quite surprised by the general condition and look of fruit and veg in Menorca a few years ago. Tasted good though!

We're too sensitive to this stuff in the UK.
