Wordpress anyone can register keeps resetting

I have a wordpress site where i encourage my visitors to register, however for some reason the site seems to keep disabling the "anyone can register" option in the settings. Its really starting to do my head in now!

Anyone else had this problem?

Have you checked the db to see if there's any indexing/corruption issues with the tables. This setting is stored in the options table which has a lot of insert/delete/update transactions.

If you have PhpMyAdmin access try optimising / repairing the tables to reindex them.
