Would like to sell: shoeshop.co.uk

It is a nice domain, not sure you will get £10k for it though.

I'd have thought mid £xxx would be more realistic, maybe as high as £1000 to the right buyer.

An obvious potential buyer worth investigating would be shoe-shop.com, particularly in light of Nominet's researching showing that "77% of UK consumers prefer to click on .uk rather than .com".

Good luck.

Definetly worth developing first, I'd probably agree with the above around 1k resale mark unless developed,

I'm sure you know the value is at least £7500 unless it's a forced sale, if it doesn't sell, hang on a while things will pick up considerably and you might get what you want.

Good Name Good Luck

I would have put that value at:

reseller: mid £xxx - low £x,xxx
end user: mid £x,xxx

It's certainly not a forced sale - no if I can't get at least £10K, then I'll just hang on to it.

Anyone serious in the UK online shoe business would surely kill for a domain like that, no?

The only thing that I might do with it is develop it further as an affiliate site while I wait...

cheers

Yep; I would hang on if I were you, remember acorn is full of resellers and we talk mostly resale value, end user would be high x,xxx or low xx,xxx but end users don't come along as often as resellers.

Domain brokers...

Im not sure if you are aware of companies like Sedo.

They are domain brokers and you can list your name for free in the hope that a buyer might come along, but the name can be parked in the meantime while you either develop the name, or search for a buyer yourself.

name is just above average really I would price it to 10k be expect to sell for half that price to an end buyer. Park it in Sedo you might get some interest

I would

1) get a site on there
2) get it ranking
3) then approach as many shoe shop chains & "e shoe shops" as you can

Very good advice. Wouldn't hurt sticking it on sedo either and if you do get any offers then happy days :)

As know one has been able to or actually bothered to developed any of the other tld can’t really see it ever getting 10k in the near future….? try developing it otherwise You could be waiting a long time

I think you'd struggle to get more than £2000-2500 from a reseller just for the name. In theory it shouldn't be something incredibly difficult to make work as a site, so why not put some effort in on that side. That will both bring some money in, and will also get the name out there in terms of visibility and SE position, making a sale much more likely.

websaway, do you have examples of a couple of other xxxxshop.co.uk domains that sold around this price level that you could point me to?

Not without researching, but you get to know watching the market for years what something is worth with a willing buyer. WomensShoes co uk was apparently sold for £9900 on sedo in October 2009 so that's a safe pointer, though not necessarily needed as a pointer to evaluate ShoeShop co uk.

Yes, that was the only one I'd been able to find but there's a factor of 20 difference in search interest for "womens shoes" compared to "shoe shop". Obviously search is not the only criteria in valuations but I find it is a good indicator.

I couldn't find any comparative xxxxshop.co.uk domains that had sold at a decent price so wasn't sure if there was a sales list source I was missing.

I sold watchshop for mid £xxxx, personally I'd value shoeshop.co.uk at 5 figures.

I think when your valuating a domain to an end user you have to factor in a credibility & prestige value aswell. A bit like why someone pays high rents to have a particular office location.
I have Furniture-Shop.co.uk for sale on here at the moment.
