It's impressive, and doubly so given his age, but there's a huge difference between a million pounds turnover and a million pounds in his savings account. The article made clear he's paying salary on at least 8 workers, so I suspect his profits are a fraction of his "headline" figure...

Is it a publicity stunt?

Where is the website? Where is Branchr in google? unless he owns the .com one and based in the states, I take it he is British seeing as they mention Alan Sugar.

Might just be me being dense.. but the branchr.co.uk was regged on the 13/10/2010

So for an internet savvy chap even at 16 youd would expect him to have that squared away, even if the other 8 employers were being thick. Something smells fishy imo

The lad is on the about page of the .com. Agreed though, something isn't quite right about it.

This looks highly sus to me.

branchr.co.uk was only registered 4 days ago... on the same date as this article was published, by someone other than that kid or his company. It's inconceivable that he wouldn't have bothered registering it if his company had made £500k especially as he claims to know so much about Internet advertising.

Unless I'm missing something, branchr.com has no info on why publishers or advertisers should join. I can't imagine over 10000 pubishers would have signed up from what appears to be a site knocked up in a couple of hours.

all that money and he's wearing topshop clothes.

and yes i am jealous :P

To attract top advertisers you would have to have a good business plan, well with the publicity his site is getting at the moment looks like his business plan is working. It may have all been based on future publicity. Shrewd.
It happened a few years ago when a boy sold 1,000,000 pixels on his page at £1 each.

If you read the blog on Branchr.com it's been around for a while - it's certainly not something set up just for the press coverage...

Without me reading all the blogs Edwin, is it the same kid from the story that owns the .com?
