when i first started domaining, i tried to use 123-reg to catch names as they dropped, it was always too slow of course. The best you will get is a credit to your account or refund.

Note since their interface "upgrade", you can no longer use your account credit to buy names...DOH

I've stopped using 123-reg now. I use someone else who are a tad more expensive, but I get instant registration.

Forgot to mention...

It's only a pound and a few pence extra to reg through paul but well worth it for the lack of hassle and peace of mind...
TBH - If domainers converted, I'd transfer all my names over...

Find most holding/buying domains currently prefer to use 123 one way or another...

yes, im tempted to try weycrest

ukreg - to slow, sometimes tells you the domain is still regg'ed
even tho it just dropped

123-reg - to many cock ups recently, i think this is the 2nd time i been
charged for domain that they failed to reg, and a couple of occasions
they havnt listed my domain in the control panel and support has took
days to put it back in. I also paid for SEO and i dont appear to have
got anything for my money, no reports, nothing.

(i do have a TAG, but i only use this from work, so out of hours i prefer to
use someone else)

lol, is someone from 123 reading this?

i regged the domain yesterday, checked the whois at 10am this morning,
still wasnt regged, just tried to reg it through weycrest, says its already
regg'ed.. checked the whois again.. 123-Reg regg'ed it for me.

By the time they get their 48 hours responder support to read my email, a refund should be on its way, they mucked up one last night.

Makes me laugh:

Two names were reg'ed a while back...

Both got, reg'ed neither showed in the CP...

Sent seperate emails through about it...

One header ----- (whatever)
One header ----- porno

Which do you think got opened first?

Neither got responded to...

Took a phone call.

It might just be the whois time, alternatively they may not have regd it. If it's a domain you want, I'd suggest as others did to me the other night, check nominet whois, go to another site and register it and get a refund from the one that fails to register it.

If I had waited for 123-reg instead of going elsewhere and getting the domain again, I may never have got it as 123-reg was never going to. Which domain is it?

I've stopped using 123-reg. THey can sometimes take over 15 minutes to register a domain, and as such, if it's just dropped - 123-reg are useless.

Its nothing to do with nom's whois. 123-reg must simply batch send all requests. The same is with changing NS records etc - sometimes, 123-reg takes forever!
