Why the fuss? Are they really that sought after? Do they all go for £500+ or are there some letters that bring that price crashing down?

Anyone care to throw their hat into the ring and let me know what they had and what it sold for?

Good points / questions...

Also possible DRS issues too down the line...

Business fighting for acronyms...

3 letter names are the GOLD BARS of domaining.

Whilst you may not make a fortune on every one - what ever you buy, will always keep it's value & make you nice return.

There are 100's of buyers out there, I've sold well over 200 this year.

You can shift LLL.co.uk's all day long especially if they have traffic!

200 F*&k.

It's like anything, the good ones yes big money, but who's going to use xfy.co.uk for example? surely thats worth nothing?

When you search Google for xfy...

xfy - Google Search

There are almost 1 million results.

Maybe every every 3 letter combination is useful to someone!

Can you divulge the prices you acheived?

I bought them. in bulk mostly.

Then I sold them, some in bulk to other collectors, some as singles - some were traded in part exchange.

Simple really!

You can't loose on LLL's - When you think about it, in comparison to other domains, they're cheap.

What can you buy in todays market for £500?

The key is, not to over inflate the value of your stock.

A 10% profit, if you sell within a year, is a hell of a good investment.

speak to Rob, he is the 3 letter king as far as I know.

haha :)

Basically what Alex said - I am on a decent number so far and are quite a 'safe bet' .

The letters do affect the price a fair bit, words and decent letters are preferable over dodgy letters however bear in mind there is usually acronyms for everything or company names using 'duff' letters - QVC etc.

I sold one xyz style name for a decent price to a new startup who created their name around the letters - they had a budget for a three letter domain as it looks pro.

In summary - quite easy to value and easy to shift if needed , plus you get the odd decent sale :)
