I have been asked to produce a website for a lapdancing venue/escort service. Could anyone point me in the right direction so that I can read up on regulations for producing such a website to cover both my clients and myself.

Nobody posting so here are a few things to consider:

Doing it properly:

Whilst your proposed project will not be 'hardcore' it will raise 'adult content' issues...
It would be wise for your client to seek legal advice and to have a lawyer sign off for the work done before it's published.

ALSO:

Indemnities, content licenses, model releases etc.
BBFC classification for video and digital media.
Title 18 etc, for US compliance regs.
Legal - 'sign off' (as mentioned).

DON'T do it the way most do:

'Balls to the walls' - IE: Just go ahead anyhow...

Most UK site owners are unaware that their sites are illegal.
Especially DVD re-sellers and content site owners.

IMO - Just waiting for their asses to be fried...

Thanks for taking the time to post that, really useful.....are there any guidelines anywhere written down that I can peruse and put forward for the client if necessary. Seems REALLY hard to find .gov documentation on this.

Nick

BBFC website is a good place to start for standard issues...

Your best bet is to speak to a specialist UK lawyer dealing in media law...

Give some a call, you'll be surprised what info you can get for free...

'Signing-off' won't be cheap though....

Other 'general' resources are available via the more respected adult webmaster forums...

Nick,
the research will be sheer hell. I am willing to undertake it for you. I will need to bill you for drinks & 'sundries'. That's all!
