advice would be appreciated
would you risk it i have found a domain with 12000 exacts with.co
and thx for the replies
was looking to sell but its good enough to make a decent site just wanted some info on it thx what would you do
Overstock.com has re-branded it self as O.co so they obviously think the .co extension is good, I personally think the .co extension is great if you want to create a brand and develop a site but I place very little value in selling them un-developed at the moment.
It blamed the falling revenue on a decrease in promotions but admitted "our current efforts to rebrand ourselves from Overstock.com to O.co may have contributed to the decline.
I find .CO is a valid alternative to .com from a branding point of view and will be gaining value in the future. Add to this that TLDs are no longer important in Google’s eyes, in fact Big G only distinguishes between non-geotargetable ccTLDs and gTLDs (.com and geotargetable ccTLDs like .CO fall into this category). And yes, .COs can rank on first page in searches with hundreds of millions of results: search for Domain Security and Car Games.

So hypothetically a .me could perform as well as a .co.uk so would you assume that like Google other search engines will adopt geo tagging as well? As it will obviously over time give the country code less meaning and inevitable in a few years the domain market will be a very different place especially with the supposed turn dial turned down on exact match domains?
Only a small set of ccTLDs can be geotargeted (.CO, .TV and .ME and a few others) out of 200+ ccTLDs, so I'd say "classic" ccTLDs are still the vast majority. Anyway .CO is the only one that can be used for commercial purposes (.TV and .ME are great TLDs but limited to their niches).
This is what makes Acorn the hub of learning,, thanks for clearing that one up![]()
