Advice on .com value

C

I own a single .com domain that I bought at a Pool.com auction about 20 years ago. Over the years I've had four or five low 4 figure offers that have gone nowhere when I countered at low 5 figures. I've just received a £2500 offer through Dan but I don't know the .com market these days and I'm wondering how to play it.

The domain is ...

Is the offer too low, just right, rip their arm off?

If it was me I would hang on to it. It's a great dot com for that very specific field. Personally I wouldn't sell it for below *at least* mid 4 figures so I think you've done the right thing. On the other hand if you've been renewing it for 20 years you're probably sick of the sight of it :) In which case you might be better just taking the offer. However if that's the opening offer I would think there's wiggle room there.

Id say its about right personally, low to mid 4 figures is sensible. It's not commerical enough to make serious money, the search results are littered with dictionary and wiki pages which is often an indication of branding/revenue generation potential imo.

Id probably counter with 8k to test the waters, first offers are never the highest offer. If you met in the middle after holding it for 20 years and limited offers would you be disapointed ? Time to let go imo

Joe and bill are two life long train spotters obsessed with their passion, trains, current and historic, a massive subject. Joe works as a civil servant and bill in a solicitors office. Joe and bill would love to own the domain name trainspotting dot com but look at the price of domains and conclude it's not going to happen without some serious investment and the years go by . Joe wins 126 million pounds on the euro lottery and sees his ambition to host his passion on the world wide web is now a reality. The moral of the story is that you never quite know what's around the corner.

I notice trainspotter dot com is on sedo buy now at £2500 without any bids.

The buyer is from California and seemingly works for a vineyard

I've weighed things up and decided that I wouldn't risk losing the sale and accepted the offer. My last two sales through Dan have collapsed so let's see what happens.

Cheers for the advice.
