Hi all

I asked for an appraisal on this forum regarding a recent site of mine
Womens Hiking Boots
It uses a feed from Affiliate Window to populate the products.

I got a couple of PM's after asking if I could build them a similar site. This got me thinking.

If I were to create dynamic web templates, which populated with info from the main Affiliate companies, would people be interested in purchasing them?

It would be a simple upload and install of the template so those who are not massively web savy could get their heads round it.

The only real involvement the user would need to do would be to generate the affilaite feed from whichever affiliate company they use (a simple task once you, know how) and, to enter a few variables in to an install page that would then create their site.

Would anybody be interested in this sort of thing?

Also, as this would be a script you can purchase once and run over multiple sites, what would be a fair price?

There are systems out there already that can do this, I tried a couple and getting the feeds was never as simple as suggested.

That's why, MyAffSite is so popular here, no messing around with datafeeds required.

How would you make it simpler?

Basically most of us want to set up a site and forget about it other than how much it makes :)

@ Techtimmy, I certainly like the look of your hiking boots site, looks pretty damn good.

I honestly wouldn't even have a clue how to do something like that, the most I can do is upload index.html and related html files, just upload and that's it, they're online, anything more than that and I would break something, so when you say it's a simple upload and install, for the likes of me, it's not.

The only real involvement the user would need to do would be to generate the affilaite feed from whichever affiliate company they use (a simple task once you, know how) and, to enter a few variables in to an install page that would then create their site.

Again, those things would be impossible for me to do, I wouldn't know what a data feed looks like, how to download one, or how to do the variables bit and install it.

Having said that, how much would you charge to do the complete set up, I mean everything I quoted from you above and install it at my webhost, so that I had a fully working bike site where I don't need to do anything at all?

As admin pointed out, myaffsite is quick and easy, especially for non techy people like me, there is nothing technical I have to do to get a store online using that, 15 minutes from start to finish and I have a new store online.

Whilst I use myaffsite a lot, I have loads more bike names registered and others in the pipeline, I often have the singular and plural of each name, and I don't like putting both on there in case they clash and Google penalises them, so I wouldn't mind having some sites made for me in the very near future.

Thanks for the response.

I thought MyAffSite was still a bit iffy (based on a thread on this forum) I have 1 site with them myself and it shows a few unusual prices here and there.

The system I had in mind would be no more complicated for the user than MyAffSite. The only major difference would be you have to upload the web pages yourself via ftp.

This could prove problematic. I have messed with the affiliate feed on Affiliate Window. It is amazingly simple to generate a feed once you know how. But, it does appear complicated to non-tech people. Enough to put people off.

The idea for this service was because although loads of people on this site are good at making sites, lots seem to struggle populating websites with data from a feed. This was my solution to that issue.

That is the question, i need to answer before taking this any further. Simpler is probably not an option, but better may be a possibility.

Will PM you some details.

I'm interested - love the look and 'feel' of your hiking boots site. How does it do for you? I don't mean the niche, but do you get a good conversion rate from it? Don't feel that you have to answer!

Could you let me know roughly how much you'd charge to set up something similar too please?

Thanks!

Richard

I would be interested, £50 would be fair, maybe, have some additional templates for sale at $10 each
