Have any member ever bought a used motorhome, I guess lots have bought new or nearly new, but a friend is looking at one for less than 20k, so any tips useful.

I'd love one and thought my interest would find her one easily, but autotraders prices are so up and down I've hit a brick wall. I think the fact she needs 5 seat belts has lessened her chances, I'd need 6 so have given up lol

A people carrier and a big tent would basically do the same thing, and be far far cheaper if you need to transport 6 people safely.

I agree it would, but she wants to travel around the UK visiting theme parks with her kids, so wants a motorhome as it will be warmer in the winter months. I'm not going to try and convince her, I'm hoping to leave one lump at home and borrow it for me and the kids lol

VW California, need I say more!

I was going to mention a converted VW T5. Didn't know it had a name now.

On my bucket list! Tour the coastline and then follow the Tour de France round the mountains...

We hired one for a week and it was brilliant, have been looking to buy a used one for years now but we've never got around to it.
I personally wouldn't bother with a vw transporter as there just isn't enough room for a family plus no toilet/shower etc
Our dream is to one day travel right around the coast of the UK
Its getting a good time to look for a used one now as the holiday season is pretty much over, keep an eye on eBay.
Here is a pic of our one (oh god that was a great holiday)

Aw that one is lovely, but I know just looking its out of her budget and definitely mine lol

I was only saying last week that I'd like to travel around the coast, both dreamers.

Yeah they are definitely out of the budget but you can get something equally as nice but older, I have a thing for the Swift Kontiki I would be happy with an older one

Wow that looks lovely even on that reg. I guess the quality ones always do. She needs five seat belts which always hinders my search and I'd need six. May have to take monkeys advice and get a tent.

What would you need? 2 seat-belts in the front driver+passenger & 4 in the back?

What about a Folding Camper (trailer tent) plenty of room with an awning, a nice solid warm base to seep on, none of the running costs of a motorhome, loads easier to tow than a caraven, its nice to be able to leave it on site and drive away in your car, unlike a motorhome which can be a pain to drive to town in and find a parking space for.
