Hi,

I'm considering launching a white label in the retail trading space and was wondering if anyone has run their own white label operation before in the finance industry? Whether it's insurance, credit cards or travel money it doens't matter.

I'm just interested in your expeirences, how you went about branding yourself, recruiting affiliates, how hard it was etc

I feel I have the marketing skills and know-how but would love to here the experiences of others. I know a couple of people who have launched their own bingo and casino skins/white labels for example.

Thanks.

Most of the white label setups I've seen are junk. They're using the same data as every other white label they have with limited (or even zero) options to change it.... you're staring down the barrel of an almost certain penalty before you even begin. Some even iframe most or all of the data meaning search engines can't see anything at all...

They're just a disaster from an seo point of view. Look how bad the mobiles4everyone whitelabel is - http://www.mobideal.co.uk/

Personally as an affiliate I wouldn't work with any white label these days.

Same really. Only work with those that provide an api (normally xml/json) and/or datafeed.

Only way to produce some kind of unique content.

I have a few, nothing in finance though, and I haven't started any aff programs yet.

You won't get anywhere without unique content, but that doesn't mean you'll get a penalty, just that you won't rank in the first place.

I have an m4e one I used for PPC testing. Didn't you run one for a while as well monkey? I'm thinking of using their feed for a content site.

If you already have relevant affiliate sites and traffic then I think it can work pretty well, but often the commercial terms aren't much better than you'd get as an affiliate. A big advantage is that you don't get the traffic leakage you'd see as an affiliate.

Yeah I can understand that - a lot of them don't last or the aff programs go bump and you lose your customer base.

What if I paid you upfront? :)

Anybody recommend any whitelabel sites in various niches?

I've got one pet related one on a exact match domain and it earns about £50 a year via a couple of sales per month. Nothing amazing, but certainly beats parking and it is completely passive income. The domain, with the aid of a couple of links, ranks top 10 for its term.

Simplify Digital are supposed to be good for broadband, haven't tried them yet though. They're ofcom accredited and some of the big comparison sites use them.
