Hi all:smile:

Is there a CMS package that we can use as an add-on to our existing websites?

We create websites in Microsoft Expression but have recently had 2 customers who want to be able to edit their own news page - which they want accessible from the main menu. We would set up their news page for them, but they would then want to be able to add/delete words and pictures as they choose.

We also had a recent enquiry from a customer who wanted to update their own restaurant menu items (after we had set up the page).

Would appreciate any feedback.

What did you use to design their sites? Surely as a site designer you should know if it is achievable?

If you use e.g. Wordpress then just give them the login details to update their site.

We are currently trying to build up a small web design business by working in our spare time designing brochure-style websites. We do this using Microsoft Expression. We would, however, like to be able to expand our range of services and are now looking into the best way of offering clients a simple CMS option - which is why I asked if anyone knew whether there was a CMS package that we could use as an "add-on" to a package such as Expression??

A CMS typically drives the whole site, otherwise you will have to match up 2 templates if you want all the pages to have the same "wrapper".

Have a look at Joomla or for smaller sites, Wordpress - which although is a blogging software, can be used with static pages.

You then set up pages with access rights per user.

Both have loads of plug-in modules to let you extend the functions as required.

It will take you time to rebuild your site and learn the new tool but the time saving in the future and full web-based editing access is well worth it.

Many thanks for your help - I am only just starting to investigate CMS so some guidelines up front are very useful. I guess we might have to change our software - I hadn't wanted to but might have to if there are is no other way. Thank you for the info.
