Who you using at the moment?

Ive had servers with poundhost, asuk (dedipower) and Netrino all are pretty good athough dunno about support as never use it just buy unmanaged servers.
As long as the network is up thats all im bothered about.

Hard disk dead and server not responding but as long as the network is up...

For most hosts these days network should be a 99.99%+

What really matters is how quickly they can replace hardware or investigate a dead server and thats where a lot of smaller companies fail.

In 6 or so years Ive only had one hardware failure. Was a harddrive, but it never actually failed just got an email from cpanel to say it was gonna pop its clogs sometime soon..

That one was with ev1/RS and they changed the drive out a few hours after I requested.

TBH most hardware failures you can detect before it ever happens.

It's not first hand experience, but if you want good customer service and don't mind paying a bit more for it, then I have heard good things about Rackspace.

I have servers with UK2, which used to be awful, but know seem to have discovered customer service. They are very cheap for high bandwidth.

I also have a server with Netrino, which used to be great, but now seem to be very slow to respond.

Don't do rackspace.

I have and regretted it.

The extra price they charge for service every month is not worth it, when it really goes wrong they leave it to you.

Fanatical sales team and there it ends.

Rackspace drove me nuts with their sales pitch. I requested that they contacted me ONLY by email and yet I had about 10 phonecalls from them at really inconvenient times. I also requested quotes several times via email and they never once sent me a quote through. I chose not to go with them.

I host most of my stuff with register1/serverstream. Register1 has top class support (particularly at the price I pay! ) - all my tickets have been answered within 15 minutes, regardless what time I put them in. They also have good uptime. They are definitely the best all-round package I have found to date...

i heard rack space are a pain.

i ahve a shared server with rshosting and cant sing their prases enough, drop them an email they might do dedicated servers

RShosting hiked my costs massively due to bandwidth usage and they dont like you running chat scripts etc on their servers.

Having said that their support it out of this world. Minutes to reply, any time of day.
