Trying to renew a domain in my DomainMonster Account. Couldn't do it as the domain in question has disappeared from the account area.

It's only about a month overdue.

E-mail customer support who say back again:

Thanks for contacting Domainmonster.com Customer Support.

I can get this domain back for you but as the domain has expired and has passed its 16 day grace period the renewal becomes more of a manual process. As a result there is an additional manual surcharge of £2 + VAT per domain year. For clarity I have provided the options below:

1 year renewal: £4.99 + VAT + Surcharge £2 + VAT = £6.99 + VAT
2 year renewal: £5.58 + VAT + Surcharge £4 + VAT = £9.58 + VAT
3 or more year renewal: £2.79 per year + VAT + Surcharge of £2 + VAT per year.

If you would like to go ahead and recover this domain please do let me know and please confirm how many years you would like to renew it for.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Kind Regards
Ben

New one on me and a darn cheek! :o

What nonsense! :p

Well that's another good reason to have your own TAG :D

Then you dont have to deal with this.....

It's not worth the £500 odd fee for me, I won't get value for money. :)

transfer the domain to someone who has a membership, get them to renew it and then transfer it back to your tag :)

You only pay the added fee first time around.

With .uk coming the economics tip even more quickly in favour of getting a tag, since ultimately most people will want to double down on some/most/all of their portfolio - plus if the reforms to the registrar agreement go ahead, self managed accounts will have free domain transfers.
