Lots of interesting stuff coming up recently so thought i'd start a thread for interesting projects we know about. Stuff like new tech, NFT, crypto ....essentially anything that would count as early adoption and possibly be a major advantage to get in early on.

So... referral links okay but if someone has already done the project, please don't mention again or use your own. I'll start with one on next post.

Earth2

https://earth2.io

So basically, new project that involves recreating the mapped topography of the earth for a future gaming / VR environment. When built, it seem like it will be a clean slate, so the Eifel tower won’t appear where it is, but there has been a MASSIVE land grab already in terms of people buying up famous places. Land value is increasing rapidly, so the quicker you get I, cheaper it is. Millions being spent already. and businesses being set up around it. I suspect will be huge in 3/4 years.

There are already massive megacities being planned and people buying in those areas. Early days but looks very interesting, and the gaming world seem suitably enthused by it all which is a great sign. They are still building it all, but initial video look convincing.

Helium Network

https://www.helium.com/

New network being built by people buying specific routers that mine and generate crypto to provide LoRa network for the IoT. So... tracker, sensors, farming , industrial automation etc. You basically buy router and it provides coverage for a larger area than wifi ( think km's rather than meters) using 668mhz in the uk. At the point where hardware is already backlogged, and I think a really interesting project.

I have already been running 3 of these and its alreay paid for itself , made made profit in less than 4 months. I'm waiting for more. Rewards will decrease as network increases, so again, best to get in early if you find it interesting. Ideally you need to be in an area where they can talk to each other but be more than 300m apart.

This map gives you an idea on the size of the project.Currently over 18k hotspots ( 3 of which are mine lol) , they think will hit critical mass at 100k, which it will get to. Hardware manufacturing catch up is issue at mo, but thats being sorted.

Indoor and high density vertical farming - I've loved this concept for a while and received an investment pitch on it earlier today, which brought it back to mind.

@dee this Earth2 is confusing to me. What's the benefit? Why are people buying land in a virtual world? Is this like some sort of big game? Also, GaryVee mentioned NFT the other day, I'd be interested in your thoughts on it (and anybody else).

Essentially yes..... its potentially a massive VR / game experience. In fact, no one is quite sure what it will turn into, and even the devs are keeping quiet about their plans and not saying anything other than they are working on the engine to make it all work ( which sounds bizzare) bur initial stuff seems good. It's kinda why i started the thread.... there is stuff going on that can potentially make you life changing money for a few quid now. There are people that got in way before me, that in 3/4 years potentially have millions in real estate in real money for very liitle right now if it goes the way the devs want. It's potentially like having spent 1000 bucks on bitcoin in 2011 is the best description i can come up with. Although you have to sort the wheat from the chaff. Theres a lot out there.

NFT is a one off, non replicable digital asset. It could be a picture, a video, text , anything. If you have the right one, its like having the most collectable baseball card thats worth 10 million bucks. It cant be replicated, Its just the modern equivalent in terms of blockchain tech. There is serious money already changing hands. It really is a sea change at the mo. I'm just interested in potentially benig onboard.

EDIT. I will say... you asked what the benifit is. People are excited about potentially playing in a real sized world. And building whatever they want on their own space virtually. And a lot of the early adopters are interested in making money long term. Were alreay in a place where it costs 50 bucks to buy 1 10m x 10m space in some places as the first levels of land grab sold out. It was a sliding scale.

SEDITION ART

https://seditionart.com/i/a1c170c6

Forgot to mention this one. If you're into art , it a new site for limited edition digital art. Lots of great new artists and a smattering of well known artists. For instance, I can say I own a Damien Hirst and it's actually true lol.

There seems to be a decent market growing on there aswell. Each art comes with digi cert etc and they have apps / subscription model for displaying art

Funny seeing this thread resurrected. Even though was only February , things have changed massively on the stuff i mentioned, so may be worth peeps popping in anything interesting. For instance on the ones I posted , and this will sound like i'm blowing but :

1/ Helium Network. I think when I posted, it was at 18k hotspots. Theres now a backlog of 3 million hotspots and as of yesterday it had topped $55 bucks a token. Feb 1st it was $2.18 . It's starting to own the IOT world now with 5G coming on board massive player buying huge amounts ) someone bought 100 million dollars worth over last week taking it top 50) You basically mine tokens for providing network. Its doing very well.

2/ Earth 2... again.... metaverse has now become 'the thing' exactly what this is and one of first ones there. Land grab prices have gone up massively and I managed to get lots of VERY good land and what are effectively url names(they call them EPL) . Manchester... Everest.... most of the most worlds most popular surnames.... lots. Reckon facebook will probably win, but theres years of pump available. Still not too late, but hang on till end of month when announcements being made.

3/ Sedition. NFTS now massive. This one probably wont win, but...meh.... I can still say I own an original Damien Hirst and will get more than I paid for it when sell.

Point being.... the people here are probably one of the most switched on groups out there in terms of tech / what works. Let people know if there are interesting projects amongst the white noise. If someone of had put £1000 quid into helium when i mentioned it, it would now be at least 25k since Feb, and actually , long term I reckon will be well in excess of $500 bucks a token. It's a winner.

Hope that makes sense ! Let us know the good stuff.

Shame this thread ended - was becoming interesting

Yeah.... thers probably loads of good stuff come up recently. As a mention for crypto....polygon ( matic ) seems to be the one to go for to invest in meta stuff. Earth 2 just confirmed a crypto based on polygon, and they already are for others.

@Siusaidh. Did you get many tiles in the end ?

Just wait for all the developments on taproot/lightning; most existing crypto projects are just a stepping stone in technology to eventually be used on the Bitcoin network.

Do you not think by the time theyve sorted it out to be usable, the viable alternatives will be well established...polygon for example as mentioned for the metaverse stuff.... sol.... eth.... all much more nimble at the moment.

Whilst I see your point, and many will argue that Bitcoins slow pace of development is hindering it, you have to ask what these existing projects are actually achieving right now. They are building for the future and by that point, I think Bitcoin will be the platform of choice, providing of course Bitcoin make a complimentary decision on their future direction. We are looking at advance / future technology here and existing projects may just be trying to run before they can walk; everything has to come together which will take time. I'm not a fan of Ethereum, their gas fees are hindering their project more than Bitcoins limited throughput. Matic will die by the sword based on what Ethereum does. Only time will tell.

My feeling is that there is a future for blockchain and some coins but the whole thing is now at a critical point, built on a house of cards. Retail continues to fomo and "HODL" into any every new shitcoin pumped on YouTube only to find themselves locked in a digital prison with their lifes worth on a phone, you would think this bubble just has to pop - it's just when and what will be the trigger. As for ETH yes shocking gas fee makes it hard to move crypto and BTC is old and slow but has first move and might survive as a potential digital equivalent of gold (which I am sceptical about) but younger gen seem to buy into that. As for NFT I can see some application but think there will be a bubble and rugpulls like shitcoins along the way.

I've noticed my bank has stopped all crypto purchases via any other smaller exchange except coinbase, when I quizzed them on the phone I was told it was because crypto was a scam and it was for my own safety.

I love it when banks consider crypto a scam. The irony given the current monetary system.

I can see eventually all USD held in banks will operate on the blockchain, so USDC for example. I can see this happening in all countries. The question will ultimately be on what blockchain. There's no doubt that Bitcoin is the most secure, but of course banks don't like decentralisation of currency.
