Just noticed the little icon next to the menu burgers. Anyone tried it ?

Looks really good and will save loads of time. I normally use a firefox addon called Screengrab, but it still requires me cropping the image. The new Firefox screenshot functions look great.

I love Firefox, Chrome doesnt feel right. When Firefox had a vulnerability last year I did switch to Chrome for about a month but I soon found myself missing the odd thing. I find Chromes inspect element clunky and cumbersome where as firebug is near on perfect ( I realise there is a firebug lite for chrome, that was just one thing of many little things ).

The only downside to Firefox is excessive CPU usage sometimes ( in comparison to Chrome ). So wear and tear on the machine is probably a bit higher on the fans/heat, although not a noticeable resource or speed reduction on a decent machine .

+1 for Firefox. I don't particularly like Chrome. However, although it sounds useful, I don't see the screenshot function you mentioned, even though I'm running the latest version (55.0.3 64-bit)

Thanks. No, I don't. But I found a reference to the fact that it's a feature that will be rolled out in stages i.e. not all Firefox users will see it at once. I'm guessing that's because they provide remote storage as well as local, and don't want to be overwhelmed with millions of screenshots.

Market share is down to less than 5% for a reason!

If people want to use it, what harm does it do? :)

Anyway, Firefox's desktop market share is between 12%-14% depending on which stats you look at. Chrome's share is hugely inflated by Android, which is why Firefox only shows at 5% when you look across all platforms (pretty much nobody runs Firefox on mobile devices).

(I'm sure everyone reading this thread has both browsers installed on their computers anyway.)

If you upgrade Firefox to the latest version (56) it will have screenshots. V56 implements it for everyone, unlike the previous versions where only selected users got the feature.

According to various tech news sites, there are a ton of speed-related improvements coming in V57-V59 over the next few months (they're already baked into the Beta release) which should practically double Firefox's performance on many common web browsing tasks.

I switched from Firefox to Chrome, got sick of the slow performance, plus Chrome allows me to sync with my phone for bookmarks, saved data etc. Makes the use of multiple devices much more seamless.

For the Firefox users, if you get tired of the popups asking if websites can send you "Notifications", then do the following:

1) Go to "about:config" in the address bar
2) Agree to the warning
3) Search for "dom.webnotifications.enabled"
4) Double-click on the entry to toggle it from "true" (the default) to "false"

Bingo. No more popups.

(Above info compiled from reading through https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1139372 )

BTW, be very careful in about:config mode if you're not familiar with it already. You're poking around in the guts of Firefox (it's basically Firefox's equivalent of the Windows Registry) so don't click on anything unfamiliar as you could accidentally disable core functions.
