So what did people think of the finale?

Thoughts about the series in general?

I've read all the books (well listened, they were audiobooks) and the show is pretty much all caught up with them, minus certain changes with a couple of characters/storylines

The show vs the books is very interesting, everything makes a whole lot more sense in the books

Watched the whole season over the last few days I love the show got to say this season took a while to get going last 3 or so episodes were by far the best.
wasn't expecting that ending though be interesting to see were it goes now without the books to guide.

I felt this season started weak but ended strong (last 3 episodes especially) which, I suppose, is better than the other way around...

Well this isn't the sort of in depth discussion I was hoping for :p

These are spoilers so if you haven't watched the season yet.. don't read on

What did people think of Jon being stabbed? do you think he is dead or no?

I think/hope Lady Milisandra is going to save him or bring him back, I'm hoping that's one of the main reasons she came back to castle black rather than just deserting Stanis because she thought he was going to lose

Talking of Stanis losing, what a limp effort uh? terrible display by their lads.. I don't think Stanis is dead either, if he was they would of shown him being killed

In the books it's a bit difference, Jon gets a letter from Ramsay saying he has won and Stanis is dead, but you can't really believe a letter.

I think what will happen next is either Jon or Stanis will take over the wildling men and form an army, then hopefully they will kick some Bolton and traitorous nights watch ass

Edit> I will say some differences from the show to book

In the book, Stanis leaves his wife, daughter and Lady Milisandra at castle black when he marches south to winterfell

Since Milisandra is still at castle black she interacts with Jon a lot more, she tells him she has seen in the flames he is going to be betrayed and that she sees blood in the snow and that he should keep his wolf close by

In the show obviously he has no warning and not so much interaction with Milisandra, but I'm still hoping as above she will save himr

+ Stanis doesn't burn his daughter since she isn't with him

Loving GOT and hugely enjoyed the last 3 episodes especially...best since the court case I reckon. I haven't read the books but believe they are almost up to date, though there is a concern that the author won't last long enough to conclude them...such is the amount of story telling still to be done.

Apparently the author has already spoken to the guys involved with the show and told them in confidence the main plot points he has in mind for the remaining books. So if he pops he clogs they know which way he wanted the story to go.

Just saw the final - was bit of a surprise tbh.

I'm not too keen on John Snow but didn't want to see him go either - I reckon she might warg him into his wolf of something like that.

That walk of atonement was pretty brutal too - that huge golden knight is gonna clear house though - looking forward to that.

It's gotten a little odd with the mother of dragons too, who are the horsey people?

That's sir Gregor Clegane, the mountain that rides

Maester Qyburn has been experimenting on him and made him into a zombie thing after he got poisoned in the trial by combat with the prince of Dawn

Yeah as Ian said, it's a dothraki khalasar, horse people like she used to live with when she was married to Drogo, not sure if it's her former tribe though or if she will know the Khal (leader)

Jon Snow resurrection in Season 6 - what you reckon?

It doesn't make sense to kill Jon off, there will be no real story surrounding the wall any more

Lady Milisandra needs to weave some magic on him, save him or bring him back to life

If he is brought back to life I assume he is (I think) free from his nightswatch vows, since he died and his watch ended

It opens up interesting possibilities for Jon leading the wildling army to take back winterfell

Just on the topic of the nights watch, I can't understand their thinking

They just let thousands of Wildlings through the wall, the nights watch has barely any men at all..

Their alliance depended on Jon

They can't send the wildlings back, they can't stop them if they decide to attack their castles

It's not like they have Stanis army to control them or the Boltons will send men to help

Jon was the only one who could keep the peace with them, they've fu%"ed themselves
