There is some suggestion that Google will group websites together if they are on the same IP address. Therefore any links from website to website on the same IP address are reduced in weighting.
Google did this because spammers were creating thousands on websites to create a link farm (help with rankings), but all the websites were based on the same IP address, so Google spotted what they were doing.
It all depends on what the individual SEO strategy is for the websites. If they are linking from one website to another website heavily (spammy) then it might be advisable to have different class C ip addresses’.
If the they are only linking once or twice between websites then it really doesn’t make any difference to Google. Google has more advance techniques for combating spam these days now, so I think different IP’s are a thing of the past.
IP address location does make an impact, it’s always best to host your websites in the countries you are targeting.
